The approach

The Hearing-Safe
Performance Method

A specialist framework built from lived experience and current evidence, resting on three pillars. Together they settle how tinnitus sits in your day, protect the hearing you have, and steady you for performance — so singing stays possible whatever your ears are doing.

The three pillars of the Hearing-Safe Performance Method The method rests on three pillars: Habituation, settling how your brain responds to tinnitus; Noise Protection, guarding the hearing you have without shrinking the life you sing in; and Performance Mindset, steadying nerves and nervous system so you can perform on any hearing day. The practices inside each pillar are taught one to one. The Hearing-Safe Performance Method™ 01 Habituation Retraining how your brain responds to tinnitus, so it takes up less of your attention. Five practices 02 Noise Protection Guarding the hearing you still have — without shrinking the life you sing in. Four practices 03 Performance Mindset Steadying the nerves and the nervous system, so you can perform on any hearing day. Three practices Twelve practices in all What sits inside each pillar is taught one to one and matched to your hearing profile — no two programmes are the same. 01

Habituation

Tinnitus is at its loudest when your attention is locked onto it. This pillar works on that relationship rather than on the sound itself — settling how much room the noise is given across your day, so that difficult listening days become less frequent and less derailing when they come. It's the slowest of the three to take hold, and usually the one that changes the most.

02

Noise Protection

Protecting your hearing shouldn't mean shrinking your life around it. We look at where the real risk actually sits in your week — rehearsals, gigs, teaching, travel — and build something practical around how you work, so you stay in the room rather than sitting things out. Revisited as your commitments change.

03

Performance Mindset

Unpredictable hearing turns performing into a gamble, and the anticipation is often harder than the recital itself. This pillar builds the steadiness to walk on anyway — working on what happens in your body before and during a performance, and on how you carry what you learn into the next one.

Every lesson draws on all three. Which pillar leads depends on what your hearing is doing and what you're preparing for — and that balance is set with you, from the first session.
